MMANonstop Fight Night Picks – UFC Live 5
Welterweight Bout: Amir Sadollah vs. Duane Ludwig
Brian: I am a big Amir Sadollah fan. Probably because he’s hilarious, but also because he could end up being a pretty bad man. I see him getting to Clay Guida-like level in this division. Sadollah by late first or early second round sub.
Brendan: Amir will use his aggressive Muay Thai to push the pace on “Bang,” but he needs to stay technical and not get into the firefight that Ludwig wants. Amir takes the unanimous decision
Jordan: Both of these fighters have excellent Muay Thai, but I think in the end, Sadollah picks up the Unanimous Decision and extends his win streak to 3.
Mark: In the first fight, I think Sadollah and Ludwig are pretty closely matched and I think the result will prove that. Sadollah wins by split decision.
Lightweight Bout: Charles Oliveira vs. Donald Cerrone
Brian: Oliveira’s a bad dude, but Cerrone will finish this one in the second…TKO…violently
Brendan: Get ready for a barn burner, Oliveira’s committed to sharing a hospital room with “Cowboy” after this one – unfortunately for him, I agree with Brian – Cerrone takes this one in the 2nd or 3rd by way of T/KO.
Jordan: I don’t pick against “Cowboy”, he has been very impressive in his last 4 fights, all wins. Charles Olviera has some serious skills, but I have Cerrone pulling out the submission of the night. RNC 2nd Round.
Mark: Hard to pick against Cerrone as he’s proven to be a tough competitor even on short notice. I’ll take Cowboy here by 2nd round TKO.
Lightweight Bout: Jim Miller vs. Ben Henderson
Brian: Both of these guys are at such a high level, I think this one goes to the cards with Bendo getting the best of Miller 29-28 on all cards.
Brendan: Miller’s on a hot streak and he’s out to earn his title shot, having finished his last two opponents (something that hadn’t been done prior) – Miller takes the split decision in this one.
Jordan: This is the fight I am most looking forward to. Jim Miller wants to prove that he is the better fighter and the true number one contender for the LW belt. I expect this fight to go the distance with Jim Miller pulling off the Split Decision over Ben Henderson.
Mark: This has got to be the fight with the most riding on it. I don’t think Henderson can be submitted, but I like Jim Miller to mix up his strikes better than Henderson enough to win a unanimous decision and earn his title shot.
Welterweight Bout: Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle
Brian: Hardy, 2nd round TKO. But it’ll be exciting.
Brendan: Hardy’s coming out to prove a point, but he’ll have to earn his split decision in this one. I don’t think he can stop Lytle unless he cuts him.
Jordan: Both Hardy and Lytle have said they want to stand and fight it out. I am looking for an exciting fight and expect Lytle to pick up the KO in the 2nd round.
Mark: Though both Hardy and Lytle have said they want to stand and bang, I don’t see that lasting long. Lytle will look for a takedown before too long and eventually does was GSP was unable to do in submitting the Brit. Lytle via 2nd round leg lock.
